Hey Robin,
It wouldn’t be the same trying to follow the directions without visuals. I tried to follow the standard set by recipe books, so I’m glad you liked it.
Feb 28, 2012 @ 23:11:01
Mmmmmm … my mouth is watering at your modifications. I have to try adding wine for sure. Thanks Nic.

I thought the recipe was really tasty and the ricotta cheese for me was a new thing but I found it worked. I added a few ingredients into the meat sauce the second time I made this which was a glass of red wine, grated carrot and some beef stock. You’ll find it really enhances the flavour and makes it much richer.

Love the fact that you took pictures of the steps. Very cool!

I absolutely love your recipe. I love the flavors you put together. I get compliments on your recipe all the time. I am actually making it for two new mommy meals today! Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Janice. You have a great question. I haven’t used the no-boil lasagne noodles myself but here’s a great article that explains how to properly make your lasagne so it doesn’t turn out crunchy when using the no-boil lasagne noodles: http://www.oregonlive.com/foodday/index.ssf/2010/04/no-boil_noodles_offer_convenie.html
Jan 18, 2012 @ 17:57:54
Hello. Do you use regular noodles and just soak them without boiling them? Or are they the no-boil lasagne noodles?

I’m a 64-year old woman, I COOK and I’m telling you that this IS the ultimate lasagna recipe…my search has ended. I’m making it again for company this next Saturday night.
If anyone is in search of the perfect fish taco, search Tyler Florence Ultimate Fish Taco. Thanks to him, mine is better than the Cheesecake Factory’s…or any other that I’ve tasted.
Nov 03, 2011 @ 14:42:57
Look delicious, I will try to make one…hope I can find all the ingredient in my country..thanks for the recipe.
Aug 19, 2011 @ 19:47:08
Hi Joe. Thanks for the question. You are correct in that the sausage needs to be cut up before you start. Let us know when you finish making your dish and feel free to send us a photo of your results. Enjoy.
Aug 19, 2011 @ 16:57:01
You don’t say it but it looks like you cut up the sausage before you start. Is that correct?
Jul 12, 2011 @ 00:24:20
My girlfriend and I made your recipe with some tweaks (added some black pepper, a bit more garlic, and adjusted the herbs a bit). But our main tweak was instead of water we put brandy (El Presidente) in the sauce. We actually found that with the sugar it made the sauce a bit too sweet. But the brandy added a nice bit of complexity that the sugar alone didn’t have. Next time, we will probably omit the sugar entirely since the brandy adds enough sweetness on its own. Try it.
But thanks for the recipe. It’s straightforward, easy, and delicious.
Feb 17, 2011 @ 14:49:07
Hey
Yes you can omit the Italian sausage, it gives the lasagna a richer taste.
Feb 17, 2011 @ 11:41:35
Hello…just one question about the italian sausage.is there any substitute like merguez or watever or can i just omit sausage? coz i dnt think it is available in my coutry
Your recipe looks really amazing and when ill try ill surely post my picture. Have a great day thank you.
Feb 15, 2011 @ 22:43:27
So glad you liked the lasagna recipe!!!
Feb 15, 2011 @ 19:44:22
Wow…this is the best tasting lasagna I have ever eaten. I wasn’t sure if I would like the ricotta, but I followed the recipe to the “t” and it was just mmmmm mmmmm good! Sorry Campbell’s.
Feb 07, 2011 @ 20:44:09
OOOOOh my Gosh, this lasagna recipe is by far the best EVER. I made it for the 4th time on Saturday for my friends who came for dinner to finalize our upcoming cruise plans. They absolutely loved it. What is good about this recipe is it comes out the same EVERYTIME i have made it. Its a fool proof recipe. Follow it exactly and you wont be sorry. The only thing I did differently is I used a 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg as I couldnt find a fresh nutmeg in my spice aisle. I threw away my old lasagna recipe and put this one in the family cookbook!
Feb 06, 2011 @ 14:32:02
It will be fine without the nutmeg.
Feb 06, 2011 @ 05:15:32
Hi! I am from Turkey. I have started out by preparing homemade lasagna noodles and tomato sauce as a preparation to your rich recipe. I dont think I will be able to find nutmeg here. Would you suggest something you replace it?
BTW thanx a lot for sharing.

Kangaroo Lasagne
We eat a lot of Kangaroo outback, and the kids get a bit bored with it,, (Dad always makes it his way, heaps of of salt and pepper and chucked on the barbie) so mum knocked up this lasagne recipe for them, and they absolutley love it!
Ingredients
?1lb or roughly 1kg of Kangaroo mince
?One white onion or 2 shallotts
?A quarter of a red onion
?3-4 cloves fresh garlic
?400g tin of chopped tomatoes and a handfull of bush tomatoes (or dry ones will do)
?9 strips of uncooked Lasagne pasta
?1 teaspoon of dry basil or a handfull of fresh
?1 tablespoon of wattle seed it is used by chefs to enhance the sauce ( if you cant get it just use oregano or herb mix)
?Salt and pepper to taste
?A generous helping of grated mature cheese
1) First things first, switch the oven on to 350°F (180°C, Gas Mark 4).
2) Start with the red sauce. Chop all the onion and garlic and brown off in a frying pan. Then add the Kangaroo and brown.
3) Add the tomatoes and stir.
4) Add the Wattle seed, Basil, salt and pepper. At this point I would also add a dash of Worcester Sauce if you have any, and a dash of red wine.
5) While the Roo sauce is simmering, start the white sauce. To do this melt a bit of butter in a sauce pan, then add flour to make a paste. Then very slowly start adding milk. The key is to add the milk very slowly, otherwise the sauce become lumpy. When you have mixed all the flour and milk, add cheese until it tastes nice and cheesy!
6) Now layer the ingredients repeatedly, starting with the Roo Sauce, then the pasta, ending with the white Sauce.
7) Put it in the oven to cook for about 45 mins, or until nice and brown on top.
Serve with lots of love garlic bread salad and lots of beer or red wine.
Fan bloody fantastic!!

I LOVE TO COOK! SOMETHINGS I’VE TRIED WITH NOT SUCH GOOD RESULTS AND LASAGNE IS ONE OF THEM. ALWAYS TOO RUNNY, TASTY BUT KIND OF A MESS TO GET OUT OF THE PAN AND HAVE IT LOOK ATTRACTIVE. NOT WITH YOUR RECIPE IT. IT WAS PERFECT IN ALL WAYS, MY COMPANY RAVED ABOUT IT, A FEW TOOK SECONDS. THANK YOU FOR GIVING THIS GIFT TO ME, MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HOPE TO MAKE THIS FOR CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER. HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY SEASON.

Hey Larry, we have discussed that question several times in our postings over the years. Read the post and see what everyone said.

I’m a 55-year-old male novice cook, and have always wanted to try a lasagna. So after Googling a while, I came across your recipe and thought it looked interesting. The only things I changed: I added 1/2 cup of red wine, and used S&W Italian Recipe crushed tomatoes. Your recipe was absolutely friggin’ awesome! Great texture, incredible flavor, everyone oohed and aaahed when we sliced and served it. My daughter and family were blown away. My daughter called me the next day and said, “It’s even better the next day. Keep that recipe!!!” My wife, who is my harshest critic
, said that it was the best lasagna she’d eaten.
Thank you so much for all your experimentation, and thanks for going to the trouble of posting this recipe and your photos. Our taste buds are grateful.

We are planning to serve this lasagna tomorrow, but would like to prepare it today. Will it work to prepare and refrigerate it today and cook it tomorrow, or partially cook it today and finish it tomorrow? Thanks for any advice!
Nov 18, 2010 @ 03:18:06
Yes, I make the sauce ahead of time then assemble the day I need it. Read the posting and you will see the discussions on this topic.

I was wondering if this lasagna (which sounds amazing) can be made a head of time and frozen?
Nov 15, 2010 @ 01:38:03
That is awesome Denise!! You are the office pot luck superstar!!!
Nov 14, 2010 @ 00:09:35
I am currently making this recipe and it looks and smells absolutely DELICIOUS! As a Jamaican though, we tend to use alot more spices and seasoning in our food so I added extra onions and garlic and a little bit of scotch bonnet pepper. Instead of using Sweet Italian sausage, I substituted with pork mince and some finely diced Jerked sausage (for all you Jamaicans, you will know that ONLY Hamilton’s will do). I am dying for it to come out the oven, cuz what I tasted from the sauce pot was AMAZING!

We were having a pot luck at work and when the paper got passed around to put on there what you would be bringing, one of my pod buddies decided to put me down for lasagna..I told Jason I have never made lasagna before but I was going to take him up on that challenge..I found your recipe on the web and decided to try it..Well let me tell you, I even shocked myself..It was the best tasting lasagna. It was a big hit at work and I received all kinds of raves on how good it tasted..I owe that all to you and the step by step instructions on how to make it. My husband was pretty upset that there was not any left to bring home but I told him I would be making it again..Well I am making the sauce today and putting the rest of it together tomorrow..
Thanks You!!
Denise

Thank you for this amazing recipe. I don’t cook very much, and I wanted to make a special dinner for my parent’s anniversary. So I found this recipe while searching the web. All I can say is that even I was blown away. This was the best tasting lasagna and I couldn’t believe that I even made it! My whole family was shocked that I could cook. They are still talking about it and I made it months ago. Tomorrow is my boyfriend’s birthday and I am going to make it again. So I just thought I would write something quick to say thank you!!!! I have already added this recipe to my recipe book!!!!
Thanks again!!!

I’ve tried may different lasagna recipes over the years. Some have been too juicy, and some have been too dry, etc. This lasagna recipe is by far the best that I have made and its easy to make, especially with your instructions. Very yummy! I served it for my family for Sunday dinner and everyone loved it. I plan to use the sauce on pasta also. Thank you!!!
