Lasagna is considered by many as a staple in Italian cuisine and delicious by everyone. The recipe below puts a different twist to a simple dish. I have made this version of lasagna on many special occasions. Hopefully you and your guests will enjoy it as much as I have.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lb. lasagna noodles package
5 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup all-purpose white flour
1 1/2 cups liquid chicken broth
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
10 oz. Brie cheese, rind removed and diced
1/3 cup Sherry
2 1/2 cup cooked fresh lobster meat
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup grated Mozzarella cheese
1 cup fresh chopped tomatoes
2 lb. fresh asparagus spears

Instructions:

Step 1: The asparagus

Cut the asparagus into pieces then lightly coat the asparagus with the olive oil, making sure all the asparagus are coated. Place coated asparagus pieces on cooking sheet and cook in the oven for about 7 min at 450 F. Allow asparagus to cool down after pulling out of oven.

Step 2: Lasagna Noodles

Boil lasagna noodles for about 7 min. The boiled lasagna noodles will not be completely cooked but it will finish cooking in the oven. To reserve the noodles, spread oil over them so that they won’t stick to each other.

Step 3: Sherry Sauce

In a sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat while mixing flour into it. Constantly mix until butter has completely combined with the flour. Put in chicken broth into the butter and flour mix and add black pepper. Cook and constantly stir until mixture has thickened and is bubbling then reduce the heat to low. Once simmering put in brie cheese and mixes until everything is melted together. Now pour sherry into the mix.

Step 4: Lasagna Assembly

Grease your lasagna pan on all sides. Place one layer of lasagna pasta on the bottom; trim and overlap if necessary to cover the bottom completely. Pour approximately ½ cup of your sherry sauce mix over while spreading evenly to cover the layer of pasta. Place half of the lobster meat and asparagus on the pasta. Grate some parmesan cheese over your ingredients.

Step 5 – Finishing Lasagna

Preheat the oven for 300 F. Repeat Step 4 until your lasagna pan is filled until the top layer where you can place chopped tomatoes in the sauce. For top layer add another type of shredded cheese, i.e. mozzarella, to give the lasagna a different flavor dimension.

Step 6: Lasagna Baking

Place made lasagna into preheated oven, uncovered for about 30 min or when cheese is golden.
